Cà chua bổ miếng cau, hành tây cắt nhỏ, cần tây cắt đoạn dài khoảng 3cm, tỏi bóc vỏ đập dập.
Thịt bò rửa sạch, thấm khô, cắt miếng cỡ bao diêm. Sau đó ướp với vài nhánh tỏi đập dập, 1 muỗng cà phê tiêu, 1 muỗng canh rượu vang đỏ, 1 muỗng cà phê ngũ vị hương, 1 muỗng cà phê nước mắm, 1/2 muỗng cà phê muối, 1 muỗng cà phê bột ngọt. Thời gian ướp 30 phút.
Cho 1 muỗng canh dầu vào chảo ,phi thơm tỏi băm, cho cà chua vào xào. Cho thịt bò đã ướp cùng một nửa hành tây và lá nguyệt quế vào xào cùng.
Khi thịt bò đã săn lại và ngấm gia vị, đổ nước vào, mực nước xăm xắp thịt bò. Nêm nếm gia vị cho vừa miệng. Đun sôi rồi hạ nhỏ lửa, ninh cho tới khi thịt bò mềm nhừ.
Trước khi tắt bếp và chuẩn bị ăn, cho cần tây và một nửa hành tây còn lại vào nồi, nêm thêm 3 muỗng canh rượu vang. Hòa 1/2 muỗng canh bột năng với nước, rót từ từ vào nồi, vừa rót vừa khuấy đều để tạo độ sánh cho nồi sốt vang và đun thêm 1-2 phút cho chín bột.
Ngày mùa đông lạnh tê người, có được một bát thịt bò sốt vang nóng hôi hổi ăn kèm với bánh mì như này thì còn gì tuyệt hơn.
